ThreadWeaver — your email history, untangled

Terms of use

Last updated: not yet published

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are between FatCat Tech (“we”, “us”) and you, the person installing or using ThreadWeaver (“you”). If you use ThreadWeaver for an organisation, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms for it. By installing or using ThreadWeaver you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t install or use it.

Your licence to use ThreadWeaver

We give you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use ThreadWeaver on any computers you use, for personal or business purposes. You may not:

  • sell, rent or charge for ThreadWeaver, or distribute copies of it, other than by pointing people to this website;
  • modify it, or reverse engineer or decompile it, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms;
  • remove or change any copyright or other notices in it.

ThreadWeaver and its design remain ours. It includes open-source components, which are covered by their own licences; those licences take priority over these terms for those components.

Acceptable use

  • Only connect mailboxes and import files you are entitled to access.
  • If you connect a work mailbox, follow your employer’s IT and data protection policies; your organisation may need to approve ThreadWeaver first.
  • You are responsible for the emails you send with ThreadWeaver, and for keeping your PC, passwords and API keys secure.
  • Don’t use ThreadWeaver to send spam, or for anything unlawful.

Other services ThreadWeaver uses

ThreadWeaver works with services run by others: Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com, your other mail providers, and Anthropic if you use AI summaries. Their own terms apply to your use of them. We don’t control those services and aren’t responsible if they change, limit access, are unavailable or stop working with ThreadWeaver.

AI summaries

AI summaries are optional and use your own Anthropic account and API key; Anthropic charges you for that use under your agreement with them. Summaries are produced automatically by an AI model and can be incomplete or wrong. Always check the emails themselves before relying on a summary, especially for anything legal, financial or time-sensitive.

No warranty

ThreadWeaver is provided free, “as is” and “as available”. We work to make it reliable, but we don’t promise that it will be free of errors, always available, or that it will group, clean or display every email correctly. In particular, cleaning may sometimes hide part of an email (the full email is always one click away with Download full message, and remains in your mailbox). Keep your own backups of anything important. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer that can’t be excluded.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit or exclude.

Otherwise, as ThreadWeaver is provided free:

  • we aren’t liable for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for loss of business, profit, opportunity or data, including missed, misfiled or mis-summarised emails;
  • if you use ThreadWeaver as a consumer and digital content we supplied damages your device or other digital content because we didn’t use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation, as the law requires;
  • subject to the above, our total liability to you is limited to £100.

Ending your use

You can stop using ThreadWeaver at any time by uninstalling it and removing its access; see uninstalling and removing access. We may stop offering or updating ThreadWeaver, or end your licence if you seriously break these terms. If your licence ends, you must stop using ThreadWeaver. Your email remains in your mailbox and on your PC either way.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when ThreadWeaver gains new features. We’ll publish the new version here with a new “last updated” date, and mention significant changes in the release notes. Changes apply from when they’re published; by carrying on using ThreadWeaver after that, you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
